Sakes Alive....K is 5!!

Where do you take a five year old to celebrate his birthday???  Where else...VEGAS, baby!

In all reality, Kevin had work in Vegas over Kaden's birthday so we decided to make a short family trip out of it.  It was our first road trip as a family - approximately 4.5 hours of togetherness in a rented minivan! The boys did just fine - of course, we brought a long A LOT of snacks and A LOT of DVDs, and heard "are we there yet?" more than a few times.

We stayed at New York, New York and Kaden's eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw it!  When we walked in and he saw all the gaming machines he jumped up and down with excitement...until he was informed that all those "arcade games" were for Mommies and Daddies and were off-limits to kids.  It didn't take long for us to find the kid section and he was more than appeased..."these games give tickets for prizes, so much better than money."

We did a lot of walking to see the different casinos, spent some time at the pool, and played about a thousand arcade games.  For his actual day, we went to breakfast at Hash House A Go Go for chocolate chip pancakes the size of a serving platter, Circus Circus for some rides and games, and then to dinner at Excelsior to watch the Knights of the Round Table defeat the evil wizard.  All in all, it was a fun birthday!  And, my most favorite trip to Vegas so far!

Kaden also requested a Rescue Bots party for his friends.  Since we had a big trip, we kept it really simple with pizza, fruit, cake, and a piƱata.  I am so happy that this boy has made such fantastic little friends!
