The Yuckiest of Bugs

We survived Kaden's first stomach bug...but it wasn't pretty. Poor little guy was up three nights in a row vomiting. Not knowing what was going on, and being awoken out of a greatly needed good night's sleep, our sweet little man was so scared. Kevin and I did a great job of tag-teaming - one of us comforted and cleaned Kaden while the other got to work on cleaning the mess. We changed a lot of sheets, did loads and loads of laundry, and took more than a few midnight baths. It was yucky, but we all survived.

We also learned a few lessons:

1. I was silly to think that I could ever be a physician,
2. We need several more sets of sheets, and
3. We are so incredibly blessed to have a healthy son.

Love and Loss

Recently, one of my dearest friends suffered an unimaginable loss. I think about her everyday and pray for her every night. She and her husband are a remarkable couple and I know their love and strength will carry them though. Please add them to your prayer list.

Touch-A-Truck

Finally, Kaden was allowed to "drive" the big rigs that so fascinate him! A foundation called Max's Ring of Fire held an event called, Touch-A-Truck, to raise money for neuroblastoma research and clinical trials. Touch-A-Truck was a car show like no other...kids got to climb-in, honk the horn, and generally explore every vehicle that was on display. Fire engines, buses, ambulances, race cars, army vehicles, construction trucks, garbage trucks, motorcycles - you name it, they had it! Kaden was in heaven! What a great idea for a fund raiser - even better that 100% of all the money raised went directly to support essential research and clinical trial treatments for children battling cancer.

Big Rigs

Kaden is fascinated by all sorts of trucks, but construction equipment is at the top of his list. He is equal parts terrified and mesmerized. At least twice a week we frequent one of the several construction sites within walking distance from our house. Each time, Kaden watches attentively. On days that he is feeling especially brave, he looks up at me and says, "Drive?"

Adorable Antics

Undressing a (little girl) mannequin at Old Navy.

Not. Enough. Toys. Must get inside the toy box.

Off to the beach...on his own. He had the toys, what else does one need?

Mini Mattise.

What? You don't eat yogurt with your fingers?

Who needs blocks?

Splish-splash.

An adventurous soul.

Face Paint

Recently, we went to a friend's "Under the Sea" themed birthday party where a face painter was doodling sea creatures. We didn't think Kaden would have much interest, but he watched intently as other kids lined up to have their faces painted. Kaden looked up at me and said, "My turn" so we thought we'd give it a shot. Kevin and I placed bets that Kaden would be up before the third brush-stroke...the kid sits still for nothing. Our little guy surprised us though, he sat as still as a statue and came away with a fierce looking shark on his left cheek. He was quite proud of his new look and showed it off to all of the many admirers.
