We had a fun-filled Fall here in La Jolla.  Here are some of the highlights:

I had to free-hand it this year as Kaden asked for a bat pumpkin - which, by the way, was stolen off our front porch Halloween night!

Halloween Night:

On Halloween, we got an early start trick-or-treating in the Birdrock neighborhood.  Kaden took to it immediately, running from house to house saying "Trick-or-Treat," "Happy Halloween," and "Thank You," in no particular order.  He enjoyed watching all the other trick-or-treaters and got really excited when he saw a costume he liked.  He also loved the fact that there were real policemen out and about - he went up to show each of them all his gear.  Kaden lasted about an hour and then the bigger kids with the scarier costumes came out.  As he walked up to his last house, he passed an older boy wearing a scary mask.  Kaden took one glance and then turned on a dime and hightailed it into my arms!  The boy was ever so nice and agreeably took his mask off to show Kaden that he was just a regular little boy.  He even let him feel the mask.  Kaden's nerves were settled, but he'd had enough.  He asked if we could go home so that he could hand out candy to kids that came by his house.  As soon as we got home, he grabbed the candy bucket and sat outside waiting for trick-or-treaters.  I think he had as much fun handing out candy as he did collecting it.  Of course, the most fun part of it all was eating it.  This is the first year that he's really eaten candy and boy did he like it.  The funny part is he didn't ask for any the next day - either he was candied out or he believes candy is just for Halloween....hopefully, the latter.
